HUMOUR IN LOCAL THEATER BREAKS LANGUAGE BARRIER

Don Eulogio is a “cholito” from the Panamanian countryside who comes to the city and disrupts the metropolitan lives of his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Eulogio Llega a la Capital, which is playing at Teatro Aba in Panama City through May 18. And what is a “cholito”? A cholito is an endearing, yet sometimes offensive term used to describe a person from the interior who does not possess refined manners or social grace, which makes the disruption of Don Eulogio’s family even more entertaining, because they have used his money to start a lucrative business in the capital city.

The play is in Spanish, but the themes are easy enough to understand, enjoy and even laugh along at the colourful characters’ antics in this comedy for the whole family. Starring Ramon Serrano, Rogelio Bustamante, Anina Horta, Jeidis Soto, Hugo Victor Rodriguez, Sara Ines Miranda, Angie Cabrera, Carlos Quintana and Bernardo Augusto, the play is under the direction of Beby Torrijos and produced by Anina Horta.

Shows run Tuesday to Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. through May 18 and entrance costs $10. Call 260-6316 for more information.
