PORTOBELO ARTISTS FEATURED IN NEW CASCO ANTIGUO GALLERY

View the works of various artists from Portobelo at the new Karavan Gallery in Casco Antiguo. The Caribbean-inspired pieces are a collection of paintings, photography and even canoes from the Colon coast. Photographer Sandra Eleta began the Taller Portobelo to bring together the works that are now the first display a the new gallery located on 3rd Street in Casco Antiguo, in front of the Arco Chato and next to the Casco Antiguo Office.
“They deserve it, they have worked hard, and they have grown.” commented Eleta. The ten artists on display are mostly locals from Colon, who have been joined by Coco and Michel, a retired couple from France who fell in love with the beauty of Portobelo at first sight. At the gallery, they have their works in ebony as well as “tagua” works, made from the large, hard seed of a native tree.
Visit Karavan Gallery for free from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on Saturdays.
